Ethereum Request for Comment 20 (ERC-20) is an implementation standard for fungible tokens created using the Ethereum blockchain. So what is ERC20 contract address and The definition of ERC20. Let’s find out by reading the article below.

What is ERC20 contract address?

According to EtherScan, the contract address for ERC20 is 0xc3761EB917CD790B30dAD99f6Cc5b4Ff93C4F9eA with the decimal of 18, max total supply of 12,998,999,988.01 ERC20 and 99,210 holders.

The definition of ERC20

"ERC20" refers to the scripting standard used in the Ethereum blockchain. This technical standard stipulates some rules and actions that Ethereum tokens or smart contracts must follow, as well as the steps to implement these rules and actions.

ERC-20 allows different smart contract enabled tokens to be exchanged. In this regard, tokens represent assets, rights, titles, access rights, cryptocurrencies, or anything else that is not unique in itself but can be transferred. The standard allows the exchange of a token representing one of these factors for a token representing the other, along with a smart contract. Smart contracts are conditions written into code that execute different aspects of transactions between parties.

Why is ERC-20 important?

ERC-20 allows fast creation of new tokens and fungibility (transferability) of all previous and future tokens created within the same protocol. This fluidity allows for creativity in new projects and provides security for users. ERC-20 transactions are efficient and low-cost, while reducing the risk of fraudulent activity.

Some of the more common uses of ERC-20-based tokens are crowdfunding, delegation of voting rights for projects, representation of physical assets such as real estate or commodities, and recording transaction fees. There is also a long list of unique projects using ERC-20 tokens for payments within projects or as a means of funding new technologies. Some examples of ERC-20 tokens include Maker (MKR), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Tether (USDT), and OX (ZRX), among others.

I hope this article will help you to learn what is ERC20 contract address and the definition of ERC20. ERC20 is not a program or software. This is a standard protocol. The protocol manages the tokenization of new tokens, ensuring they comply with the required technical specifications.
