ENS names are those with the ". eth" ending. Each one is an NFT, a special blockchain-based token that represents ownership, and is created and sold the same way as your typical NFT. So what are they really used for? How much does the .eth domain cost? How is the .eth domain important?

Sales of Ethereum domain names on OpenSea have increased by around 2,300% in the last week as buyers scramble for highly sought-after, limited-edition three- and four-digit domains.

A domain name service for the Ethereum blockchain is called the Ethereum Name Service (ENS). A DAO, or decentralized autonomous organization, manages the ENS and employs governance tokens to reach decisions as a group. It has been around since 2017 and is closely connected to the Ethereum Foundation.

However, this week, Ethereum users started making predictions about the worth of three- and four-digit ENS domain names in the future. ".eth"-ended domains are used for ENS names. Each one is an NFT, a special blockchain-based token that represents ownership, and is created and sold the same way as your typical NFT.

ENS names are promoted as the future of decentralized, censor-free websites and as a potential global login for everything Web3 by their proponents. The most popular usage of ENS names nowadays is as a short, readable substitute for the 42-character standard Ethereum wallet address.

Jimmy Fallon (fallon.eth), Paris Hilton (parishilton.eth), Trey Songz (treysongz.eth), Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong (barmstrong.eth), and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin are among the famous people who now utilize their ENS names as their Twitter usernames (vitalik.eth).

How is it unique?

The popularity of shorter ENS names is comparable to the early internet's web domain frenzy since they are simpler to read, spell, and search for.

Since an ENS name must have three digits or more, sales of three- and four-digit names have suddenly and dramatically increased. The Head of Community at ENS, alisha.eth, reported that the ENS saw a staggering 446 Ethereum, or almost $1.3 million, in secondary transactions on OpenSea on Tuesday.

Data from Lead ENS Developer nick.eth shows that from April 14 through April 21, the ENS generated around $700,000, and from April 22 through April 27, it generated $3 million.

How much does .eth domain cost?

Numerous users are currently excited about ENS names with numbers, such 123.eth. Many three-digit ENS names, such 792.eth, 645.eth, and 981.eth, are selling for more than 6 ETH each, or over $17,000.

Some people are paying the name's value for their ENS domains, with 887.eth selling for 8.87 ETH, or almost $26,000. Yesterday, 555.eth sold for 55.5 ETH, which is a staggering $160,000.

How is.eth domain important?

On the potential value of ENS subdomains, such as "quit.pcc.eth," which can be formed by the owner of the parent domain name, some NFT collectors have already made assumptions. In this instance, no. A subdomain of the domain pcc.eth, which belongs to the Purrnelopes Country Club NFT collection, is pcc.eth.

Additionally, some users have already established entire communities centered around belonging to the "10k Club" because there is a fixed supply of 10,000 four-digit ENS names.
