Loopring is one such project. You may have heard about it after its token price surged in November 2021. So what is Loopring? With Loopring, people no longer need to sacrifice efficiency and affordability to take advantage of Ethereum's network security.

What is Loopring?

Loopring is software running on Ethereum designed to incentivize a global network of users to operate a platform to create a new type of crypto-asset exchange. Founded by former Google software engineer Daniel Wang, Loopring aims to make trading assets and payments faster and cheaper on Ethereum without sacrificing security.

Liquidity could become an issue if DEXs cannot interoperate and share orders across a broad network. Additionally, since transactions are executed on-chain, DEXs are limited by the scalability and efficiency of the underlying blockchain.

Loopring is a layer 2 protocol. This means it is built on top of the Ethereum main chain (layer 1). Contrast this with other DEX projects such as Uniswap or SushiSwap that are built directly on layer-1.

The idea is that this could reduce the number of transactions Loopring needs to submit to the Ethereum network, thereby increasing transaction speed and reducing costs for traders.

How does Loopring work?

Loopring's key value proposition is the cutting-edge encryption technology integrated on its platform. Loopring (LRC) achieves better performance than traditional decentralized exchanges by creating "fast lanes" where transactions are aggregated and executed off-chain to avoid Ethereum's network congestion.

Loopring is layer 2 and it utilizes an encryption technique called zkRollups. ZkRollups are the secret sauce of Loopring. This is done by using a layer 2 scaling solution called zkRollups, which bundles a large number of transactions off-chain and then submits them to the Ethereum blockchain as a single transaction.

The "zk" in zkRollup stands for "zero knowledge" and refers to the type of proof that Loopring must provide to verify that off-chain transactions are accurate. No information was disclosed about the statement.

So you have learned what is Loopring and how Loopring works. Loopring has promised exciting things for 2022, including Loopring Earn, NFT support, and other product upgrades. Check out Loopring's latest quarterly update for more details.
