This article is about what is Mongolia currency. In a rapidly evolving financial landscape, Mongolia stands at the forefront of embracing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. The country's official currency is the Mongolian Tugrik, but alongside it, several innovative cryptocurrency services have emerged, providing a digital alternative for financial transactions.

What is Mongolia Currency?

The currency of Mongolia is the Mongolian Tugrik, abbreviated as "MNT" or represented by the symbol "₮". The Tugrik is issued by the Bank of Mongolia, which serves as the central bank of the country. It is the official legal tender used in everyday transactions within Mongolia.

The Tugrik is further subdivided into smaller units, with smaller denominations like the möngö (equivalent to 1/100th of a Tugrik) and the tögrög (equivalent to 1/1000th of a Tugrik), though these are less commonly used in practice.

The exchange rate of the Mongolian Tugrik fluctuates in the foreign exchange market, and its value relative to other currencies can vary based on economic factors, market conditions, and monetary policies.

What Cryptocurrency Services Does Mongolia Use?

Mongolia is one of the countries that has embraced the use of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. According to a report by Chainalysis, a blockchain analytics firm, Mongolia ranked 15th in the world in terms of cryptocurrency adoption in 2020. The report measured the adoption based on four metrics: on-chain cryptocurrency value received, on-chain retail value transferred, number of on-chain cryptocurrency deposits, and peer-to-peer exchange trade volume.

Mongolia has several cryptocurrency services that cater to different needs and preferences of its users. Some of the most popular ones are:

- Bitmonex: Bitmonex is a cryptocurrency exchange that allows users to buy and sell various cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, and Monero. Bitmonex also offers a mobile app that enables users to access their accounts and trade on the go. Bitmonex is licensed by the Financial Regulatory Commission of Mongolia and complies with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing laws.

- ArdCoin: ArdCoin is a native cryptocurrency of Ard Financial Group, a diversified financial services company in Mongolia. ArdCoin is based on the Ethereum blockchain and aims to provide a digital alternative to the Mongolian tugrik, the national currency. ArdCoin can be used to access various financial products and services offered by Ard Financial Group, such as loans, insurance, investments, and payments. ArdCoin can also be exchanged for other cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies on ArdCoin Exchange.

- Candy: Candy is a loyalty program that rewards users with cryptocurrency for their online and offline purchases. Candy partners with various merchants and businesses in Mongolia, such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, cinemas, and online platforms. Users can earn Candy tokens by scanning QR codes or using NFC tags at the point of sale. Candy tokens can then be redeemed for discounts, coupons, gift cards, or other cryptocurrencies.

- LendMN: LendMN is a peer-to-peer lending platform that connects borrowers and lenders using blockchain technology. LendMN allows users to borrow or lend money using cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies. LendMN uses smart contracts to automate the loan process and ensure its security and transparency. LendMN also offers a credit scoring system that evaluates the borrowers' creditworthiness based on their social media activity, online behavior, and transaction history.

Bottom Line

In this article, we have discussed what is Mongolia currency. Cryptocurrencies have gained popularity in recent years due to their potential to offer faster, cheaper, and more inclusive financial services.
