Ethereum has successfully transitioned from a PoW to a PoS system. However, not everyone agrees with the proof-of-stake move. A hard fork could cause some Ethereum miners to split off and create their own network, or some miners are already pushing to mine Ravencoin after ETH merging. How to mine Ravencoin is the main topic of this essay.

What Is Ravencoin Crypto?

ASIC and basic GPU miners are used to mine the token known as Ravencoin. In 2018, it split off from the Bitcoin chain. The currency gives users a method to design their own tokens and distribute them to other users. The goal of the developer was to produce a token that could be mined using only the GPU of PCs.

The consensus mechanism that underlies Ravencoin's design is primarily what sets it apart from Bitcoin. The method through which completed transactions are recorded on the blockchain is known as the consensus mechanism. The proof-of-work consensus algorithm is used by Ravenco Now uses the KAPOW mining algorithm, it formerly used X16R. The mining algorithm used by KAPOW randomly selects the mining program to be used.

How To Mine Ravencoin?

From the official Ravencoin website or github, download the Ravencoin wallet. Install it after that and get a prize address. Backup your wallet if you can.

Select a pool now from the Pools page. Here, it's crucial to keep in mind that mining rewards ought to become more consistent over time. Please think about aiming your miner(s) at smaller pools to spread the hashrate and improve the security/health of the network.

Check the pool sizes here next. It is advised that you pick a pool close to where you are. Download a GPU miner right away. There are many GPU miners available, but you may also use the open-source kawpowminer (Nvidia+AMD) miner from the Ravencoin Community.

Now, unpack the kawpowminer folder; unfortunately, there is no.bat file inside; we will need to create one.

Create a text file and rename it RVN.bat (avoid RVN.bat.txt).

Lastly, edit the .bat file that was just created (right-click the file and pick edit).

"kawpowminer -U -P stratum+tcp:/.WORKER>:PASSWORD>@HOSTNAME:PORT pause" will be seen on screen.

Now, swap out your values for those in >. Both the worker and the password are optional. Keep in mind that you should use -P rather than -U for AMD. Apply the hostname and port that your pool provided you with right away.

Then, in the kawpowminer folder, double-click "RVN.bat." A scrolling text will be visible, and your GPU(s) will generate some heat and noise. If your setup is correct, you will see your hashrate shown in Megahashes per second (MHs).

So, this is the step-by-step guide of how to mine Ravencoin. As of Monday, January 02, 2023, the current Ravencoin difficulty level, mining hashrate, and block reward—a block reward of 2500 RVN, a consumption of 2,900.00 watts of power at a cost of $0.10 per kWh—would require 0.007 days to mine 1 Ravencoin.
