Retail traders typically have smaller capital and trade through retail brokerage platforms accessible to individual investors.

What Is Retail Vs Professional Trader?

Retail Trader:

A retail trader is an individual trader who participates in the financial markets with their own personal funds. They typically trade smaller volumes and have limited access to advanced trading tools and institutional resources. Retail traders often trade for personal investment p purposes and may not have extensive market experience or professional qualifications.

Professional Trader:

A professional trader is someone who trades on behalf of a financial institution or as part of a larger organization. They may trade with significant amounts of capital, have access to advanced trading platforms, data feeds, research, and resources. Professional traders often have specialized market knowledge, experience, and may hold professional qualifications. They may trade for clients, manage portfolios, or work within institutional trading firms.

Two types of retail trade are:

1. Brick-and-Mortar Retail: This type of retail trade involves physical stores or establishments where customers can visit in person to make purchases. Examples include department stores, supermarkets, clothing boutiques, and specialty shops.

2. E-commerce Retail: E-commerce retail refers to the buying and selling of goods and services through online platforms. It involves online retailers, marketplaces, and websites where customers can browse, select, and purchase products using digital channels. Ex samples include Online marketplaces like Amazon and eBay, as well as individual brand websites.
