No one knows who Satoshi Nakamoto really was, but we do know he was the inventor of Bitcoin, ushering in the age of cryptocurrency. So, what is Satoshi Nakamoto meaning? Let's see.

What Is Satoshi Nakamoto Meaning?

"Satoshi" means "clear thinking, quick witnessed; wise." "Naka" can mean "medium, inside, or relationship." "Moto" can mean "origin" or "foundation."

People Thought to Be Nakamoto

Dorian Nakamoto, a professor, and engineer from California, was named by Leah McGrath Goodman as the person who invented Bitcoin in a Newsweek piece published in March 2014. McGrath's report says, "The trail followed by Newsweek led to a 64-year-old Japanese -American man whose name really is Satoshi Nakamoto," but subsequent investigation ruled this Nakamoto out.

Hal Finney was the first person to receive Bitcoin in a transaction and was engaged in the Bitcoin community both before and after it launched. He also happened to live close to Dorian Nakamoto, who it has been speculated may have served as Finney's idea for a pseudonym.

Many people in that circle were friends with early cypherpunk Nick Szabo. In 2005, he wrote a blog post hypothesizing a digital currency called "Bitgold" that would not depend on the trust of third parties. Szabo has also been ruled out as a possibility.

Craig Wright is one of the more colorful characters to be nominated as the person behind Satoshi Nakamoto. Dr. Wright, an Australian academic and businessman, has claimed to be Satoshi on several occasions—even to the point of being involved in legal actions regarding owner of the identity. A civil lawsuit against Wright filed by the late David Kleiman's estate was dismissed by a jury in December 2021. The estate of Kleiman claimed that Wright and Kleiman jointly created Bitcoin and that as a result, it was entitled to half of Wright's Purported 1.1 million BTC stash.

But the Kleiman estate received a $100 million award, proving that the jury and the judge thought Wright and Kleiman collaborated on the project to some degree.

Also in 2021, a United Kingdom court ordered Bitcoin org to remove the Btc whitepaper because the website was violating Wright's copyright for the paper, indicating the court's opinion that Wright had some sort of intellectual property interest in the paper.

Hopefully, reading this article,"What Is Satoshi Nakamoto Meaning? People Thought to Be Nakamoto," can help you to understand it better.
