Solo mining is an attempt, as individual miners, to individually confirm blocks of transactions on the blockchain. So what exactly is solo mining and how to solo mining. Let’s find out by reading the article below.

What is solo mining?

As the name suggests, solo mining involves mining cryptocurrency yourself. This means you need to handle the entire mining process yourself. When Bitcoin mining first started, it was done alone, initially by its founder, the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto. Nakamoto uses CPUs to do this, which was the standard for a while before GPUs, ASICs, and pool mining became popular.

How to solo mining?

Solo mining is the first mining method. Satoshi Nakamoto's vision is "one CPU, one vote". To vote, you must be an active miner on the blockchain. This means that every miner on the blockchain is running its own full node.

Since the block reward and block time are always the same, and the number of miners increases, the amount of reward per miner decreases in a given time frame.

How Much Can You Earn From Solo Mining?

In short, there are no guarantees when it comes to solo mining, especially if you are mining very popular coins like Bitcoin or Ethereum. On top of that, as more miners join the blockchain and start circulating new coins and validating blocks, the overall reward for mining decreases.

Solo mining, in particular, is known for providing erratic income as the chances of mining an entire block are slim and some people spend large sums of money on hardware and software before receiving anything in return. However, if you mine a block, the reward is substantial.

I hope now you will understand what exactly is solo mining and how to solo mining. While it is difficult to find blocks in solo mining, over time it can provide users with the highest returns than pool mining can provide. However, the process will depend on a variety of factors; therefore, independent miners must be patient. However, since it sometimes takes longer to find a block, most users are drawn to pool mining to mine altcoins or bitcoins.
