You might have heard of Alpha stage and Beta Stage while testing out software or other related things. So What exactly the Alpha stage is and how long does Alpha Stage last?

You can find out by reading this article.

What is the Alpha Stage?

Software development teams typically release their products in stages. A common practice is to solicit input and suggestions from the community in order to share and integrate ideas, suggestions, and improvements before the final product is released to the public.

Alpha is an experimental stage. This is an opportunity to use prototypes to work out the right way to build. In the Alpha phase, you test the hypotheses you reached at the end of the discovery phase. As you progress through the Alpha stage, you will generate new hypotheses as you discover new things about users and services.

What is the alpha stage of a game?

The Alpha stage is where key game features are implemented and assets are partially completed. Alpha games are fully functional, ie the game is playable and contains all major features. These features may be further modified based on testing and feedback.

How long does Alpha Stage Last?

Use whatever online solution you try, build something complex enough for you to test out different ideas, not production-quality code. Expect to throw away any code - and many ideas you test - by the end of the alpha. By the end of the Alpha, you should be able to decide which of the ideas you've tested are worth advancing into the Beta.

Alpha tends to last 6 to 8 weeks. This means you should book your alpha evaluation within two weeks of starting the alpha.

How do you test alpha?

The first step in alpha testing is to review the design specification and understand functional and non-functional requirements. Next, create an extensive test plan to generate all necessary test cases. Once the test plan and test cases are ready, the team starts alpha testing .

So I hope now you will know what the Alpha Stage is and how long does Alpha Stage last. Depending on the route the team chooses, they can utilize a variety of testing strategies and gather valuable information about quality and usage -- and use it as a guide to further improve the product.
