The World Economic Forum is most known for hosting its annual meeting at the Swiss ski town of Davos. Business and political figures from all around the world usually attend the event for a series of conversations on international concerns. This event's 50-year schedule was disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it was resumed in 2022. What is WEF?

What Is WEF?

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a global institution with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Each year, it hosts a meeting of individuals, political leaders, and business executives to address important topics that affect the world economy. Political, economic, social , and environmental issues are only a few of them.

Members of the World Economic Forum (WEF) include some of the most well-known CEOs, diplomats, celebrities, media personalities, government officials, religious leaders, and union representatives from all over the world. The WEF membership is a cross-section of the global elite from the private and public sectors.

The WEF was established in Geneva in 1971, and its goals are based on the concept of stakeholder theory. According to the stakeholder theory, even if a private sector organization's goal is to increase profits for its shareholders, it is the organization's recogibilize The rest of society has an interest in the company's decisions. When making crucial decisions, stakeholders like employees, clients, the company services, and the local and global community must be taken into account.

What Does WEF Think Of Crypto?

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is of the opinion that the ecosystem may thrive and recover from the horrible year that 2022 was for the cryptocurrency sector. The recent failure of FTX and the demise of the Terra blockchain affected millions of consumers in 2022, with the market losing $2 trillion during that time, according to a piece by Dante Disparte that was posted on WEF's weforum.org. However, the core of these technologies, which are currently being tested by financial institutions around the world, has not changed.

Furthermore, Disparte uses JPMorgan as an illustration of this as it publicly changed its posture from being blatantly opposed to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology to incorporating it into a number of its experimental products and providing cryptocurrency to a select group of cli.

Conclusion

What is WEF? The Crypto Sustainability Coalition was established by the WEF in September of last year with the goal of harnessing Web3 technology to combat climate change. The WEF has been a proactive organization when it comes to cryptocurrencies.
