What is zkSync? A trustless protocol is used to implement scalable, affordable transactions on Ethereum using zero-knowledge proofs. The system performs computation and data storage off-chain and stores all assets in a single smart contract on the mainchain.

What Is zkSync?

An Ethereum scaling and privacy engine is called zkSync. Its current functionality scope includes native L2 NFT support, atomic swaps, limit orders, and low gas transfers of ETH and ERC20 tokens over the Ethereum network. The zkSync development ecosystem is high-level des this document. Built on the ZK Rollup architecture is zkSync.

ZK Rollup is an L2 scaling solution in which computation and storage are carried out off-chain and all funds are held by a smart contract on the mainchain. The mainchain contract generates and verifies a state transition zero-knowledge proof (SNARK) for each Rollup block. Every single transaction in the Rollup block has its validity verified by this SNARK. Every block's public data update is also published over the mainchain network in the inexpensive calldata.

What Can I Use zkSync For?

You first need a wallet in order to gain access to the entire zkSync ecosystem and take advantage of cheap and immediate transactions. You cannot join the network without a wallet because you cannot access zkSync through an exchange like Coinbase or Binance. With wallets, you can Easily buy, sell, and store cryptocurrency as well as explore the fascinating worlds of DeFi, NFTs, and other technologies.

Rollups, a class of Layer 2 solutions, include zkSync. ZK rollup is what zkSync is more specifically. ZK (zero knowledge) is a cryptographic term for the ability of one party to demonstrate to another that something is true without disclosing any additional information.

Who Founded zkSync?

Matter Labs is the company that created ZkSync. They've gotten money from the Ethereum Foundation as well as eminent financiers like Union Square Ventures. Since September 2020, zkSync has been operational.

Summary

What is zkSync? On Ethereum, ZkSync is a Layer 2 scaling solution that provides low gas and quick transactions without sacrificing security. Assets may be removed from Layer 1 at any moment.
