How Do CryptoKitties Work?

This game uses Ethereum blockchain technology and CryptoKitties are non-fungible tokens based on the ERC721 token standard. This game runs on an algorithm called Genetic Algorithm or GA. According to this algorithm, each CryptoKitty is unique and inspired by a re a result, the information contained in a digital cat is in the form of DNA placed in a smart contract. This information includes colors, patterns on the fur, facial expressions, etc.

- How to buy a CryptoKitty

First, you must have a MetaMask wallet to be able to follow the steps below.

STEP 1: You need to go to the CryptoKitties marketplace and create an account. This marketplace is user-friendly and easy to get started.

STEP 2: In the marketplace section, you can see different digital cats such as Exclusive cats and Founder cats with different prices. Pick a cat and then click on the “buy now” icon. Also if CryptoKitty is not for sale you can bid on a CryptoKitty and the seller can accept or reject your bid.

STEP 3: You can now finalize your CryptoKitty purchase by paying through your wallet.

-Breeding the cats

For Breeding the cats you need at least two cats to act as the Sire & Dame. Sires after breeding need a short time for recovery. After selecting one of the cats as Sire, you can select a cat as Dame by selecting the “Sire with my Kitties” option and then clicking “OK”. Once your cats have bred, you can see a new egg in the inventory section. When you click on the egg, your new kitten comes out with its own new and special sets of features.
