Uniswap, a decentralized protocol revolutionizing token trading on Ethereum, has garnered significant attention. In this article, we delve into where Uniswap is based and compare the features of Uniswap V2 vs Uniswap V3. Prepare to embark on a journey of discovery.

Where is Uniswap based?

Uniswap operates through an automated market making system, allowing users to engage in trades or provide liquidity. Governance of the Uniswap protocol lies in the hands of the UNI token holders, who actively vote on proposals and the protocol's functioning. Complementing the protocol , Uniswap Labs , a company based in Brooklyn, New York, has been instrumental in developing user-friendly products atop the Uniswap protocol.

Uniswap V2 vs. Uniswap V3:

Uniswap Labs has introduced a new user interface (UI) on app.uniswap.org, making Uniswap V3 the default choice for swapping and liquidity operations. Notable features of V3 include the introduction of a price range slider when adding liquidity. As an open- source protocol, anyone can build interfaces to access Uniswap V3, fostering community-driven innovation.

Despite the introduction of V3, Uniswap V2 will remain immutable on the Ethereum blockchain. The Uniswap app on app.uniswap.org continues to provide support for Uniswap V2. In cases where V2 offers better pricing than V3, the app will prompt users to switch Accordingly. Users can manually select V2 for exchanges through the use of URL parameters. While V2 will persist, it is expected that V3 will attract the majority of liquidity and trading volume over time.

How does the network fee for the switch compare to v2?

When compared to V2, network fees for swaps in V3 are marginally lower, provided the transaction does not span multiple price changes. The Uniswap interface has been optimized to natively support Uniswap V3, ensuring a seamless user experience. In instances where V2 offers more favorable prices, the interface will notify users and suggest a smooth transition between the two protocols.

At present, there are no immediate plans for the development of Uniswap Protocol V4. Should a new iteration be considered, it will be an open arena for brainstorming, research, and development, fostering further innovation within the Uniswap ecosystem.

Embark on your Uniswap journey, unraveling where Uniswap is based and Uniswap V2 vs V3. May this article illuminate your path and expand your knowledge of this groundbreaking protocol.
