Who is Hester Peirce, the crypto mom?
Hester Pierce, the commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission, is one of the best-known "Crypto Moms." Members of the crypto community, who frequently see her as an ally for their sector, gave her the moniker. What Did Hester Peirce Say About Bailouts in Crypto?
Peirce is sometimes referred to in the business as "Crypto Mom" because she is significantly more accepting of the cryptocurrency sector. She claims that she would oppose the use of bailouts to save cryptocurrency businesses, particularly those that had grown excessively leveraged and did not use risk management best practices.
“Crypto does not have a bailout mechanism. And that’s been perceived as one of the strengths of that marketplace. I don’t want to come in and say that we’re going to try to figure out a way to bail you out if we don’t have the authority to do it."
Peirce Views the Crypto Bear Market as a Chance
She sees the decline in the cryptocurrency sector as an opportunity for all parties involved. "When things get a little tougher in the market, you find out who's really creating something that might stay for the longer term and what is going away," she added.
Peirce also thinks that regulators can use this chance to gain a better understanding of how to control the market. The commissioner thinks there are lessons to be learned from the current circumstances as the SEC has been stepping up its efforts to exert control over the cryptocurrency market.
