Linda Yaccarino, NBCUniversal's chair of global advertising and partnerships, will succeed Elon Musk as Twitter's next CEO.
Yaccarino is leaving her position at NBCUniversal, where she worked for more than 11 years, according to a May 12 tweet from Musk. As Twitter's next CEO, she will "primarily focus on business operations," as Musk oversees product design and other technology . On May 11, Musk announced he was stepping down as CEO to become executive chairman and chief technology officer of the social media company. He did not specifically name his successor and gave no details other than that she would be a woman and start the job in about six weeks.
Twitter's key leadership role has significant influence on international discussion and digital properties. Yaccarino's tweets included some praising Musk's performance in the interview and discussing how the social media platform handles tweets that contain hate speech and calls for violence. In April, the NBCUniversal veteran interviewed Musk. at a conference in Florida where the two discussed Twitter's policies. Since taking over the platform in October 2022, during Musk's tenure as CEO, he fired key members of the company's executive team and phased out the platform's legacy verification system in fav or of various paid checkmarks . He also influenced the price of Dogecoin,By briefly changing Twitter's logo to memecoin's dog symbol and causing the price of Milady's non-fungible token (NFT) to spike after the NFT meme was released.
