The Merge is almost here, marking a historic milestone for the entireWe couldn't be more excited for this monumental occasion. As itapproaches, we'd like to address a few questions surrounding the Merge as it relates to Optimism.
Optimism's researchers and engineers are life-long Ethereans, some of whom have contributed directly to the Merge.
Optimism's operations will be shifting entirely onto the Po chain once the Merge activates and assets on Optimism will only be withdrawable to the PoS chain.
Many of you have been asking whether the Merge will disrupt the Optimism network.
In short: it won't.
The Merge will not affect the Optimism network at all. Meaning no downtime, no changes to the network, and deposits & withdrawals continuing to work as usual.
Optimism's transaction data and state roots will be posted to the Ethereum proof-of-stake chain. Nodes will be unaffected as they continue to read data from the post-Merge chain.
