The crypto token PLANET is experiencing a turbulent period as traders eagerly anticipate the launch of its inaugural tokenized product in collaboration with football icon Lionel Messi.
CoinCodex, a cryptocurrency aggregator, recorded PLANET's volatility at 6.82% on February 21, a figure deemed significant within the 5% to 10% range, based on established metrics for measuring volatility.
On February 19, the price of PLANET surged to $0.00011, accompanied by a 24-hour trading volume surpassing $23.5 million. This spike followed an announcement by Messi, revealing a forthcoming tokenized product developed in partnership with Join The Planet, an environmental nonprofit organization affiliated with the PLANET token. As of the latest update, PLANET is trading at $0.00009, having undergone substantial fluctuations throughout the week. Over the past seven days, the coin has witnessed a 17.9% increase.
Tokenization of Real World Assets (RWA) involves digitizing ownership rights to physical or traditional financial assets using blockchain technology. While various assets, such as real estate, art, and commodities, are commonly tokenized, specific details regarding the assets to be tokenized with Messi have not yet been disclosed. RWA is set to debut on March 1st.
The Planet initiative initially unveiled its collaboration with Messi in July 2023 through a video featuring the football star advocating for environmental sustainability and leveraging blockchain to combat pollution. Inspired by Amazon's Flywheel business model, Planet's strategy aims to provide a broad array of products at competitive prices to attract a wider audience. According to the project's website, proceeds generated through RWA will be allocated to decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) dedicated to addressing social and environmental challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The project sets ambitious targets, aspiring to achieve $100 million in annual revenue, as outlined on Planet's official page. Messi has been actively engaged in the Web3 space, notably partnering with cryptocurrency exchange Bitget in 2022 and assuming the role of its official ambassador.
