Injective Protocol is implemented as a Cosmos SDK module, built by Ethermint (EVM on Tendermint). It leverages Tendermint-based proof-of-stake to facilitate cross-chain derivatives trading across Cosmos, Ethereum, and many other Layer 1 protocols. Furthermore, the protocol is collision resistant and utilizes Verifiable Delay Function (VDF) to prevent front-end running.
INJ is the token used on Injective and launched via a public offering in 2020, becoming the first Binance Labs-backed project to debut on the Binance Launchpad. Use cases for INJ include, but are not limited to: protocol management, exchange fee value capture, derivatives staking, liquidity mining and staking.
The Injective platform enables users to participate in decentralized cross-chain derivatives trading with zero gas fees, while also accessing cross-chain earnings across multiple assets. Since the platform is governed by a DAO structure, Injective enables everyone to create and trade on any derivative market with just price input, opening up more opportunities to trade on markets that other exchanges don’t.
